Program Description
The New Mexico MFA HomeForward Program helps low-to-moderate income first time and repeat homebuyers in New Mexico purchase a home by providing down payment and/or closing cost assistance. It is a second mortgage that provides up to 3% of the purchase price or value of the home and the first mortgage must be a MFA HomeForward mortgage. The assistance is repaid over either a 10, 15 or 30-year period, with the longer repayment term options having the highest interest rates.

Class Name: eHome's 8-Hour Homebuyer Education or Other
Homebuyer education is required only for first time homebuyers, including co-borrowers. Buyers must complete a homebuyer counseling course through eHomeAmerica or another HUD-approved housing education provider.
Mortgage Insurance & Fees
Most mortgage programs require mortgage insurance when you are financing more than 80% of the purchase price or appraised value. Some programs may also have an associated funding fee, paid at the time of closing, or an annual fee. Learn all about the different fees here.
