The Iowa Finance Authority’s Housing Iowa Conference is taking place in Des Moines, bringing together housing professionals from across the state. The focus of this year’s event is on expanding housing opportunities for all Iowans, with an emphasis on recovery from recent natural disasters.

Governor Kim Reynolds Speaks on Housing Challenges

Governor Kim Reynolds addressed attendees, discussing the state’s ongoing efforts to help Iowans rebuild after recent tornadoes and flooding, which caused significant damage to over 5,000 homes. “We’ve faced tough challenges over the past few years,” Reynolds said, referencing a series of natural disasters, including flooding, tornadoes, and the COVID-19 pandemic. She emphasized the state’s commitment to doing everything possible to support recovery and create new housing opportunities.

Lt. Governor Adam Gregg’s Resignation Addressed

During the event, Governor Reynolds also answered questions about Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg’s resignation. She explained that Gregg made the decision to focus on his family after seven years of nonstop challenges. “I respect his decision,” Reynolds said. “Opportunities like this don’t come often, and he made the choice that was best for his family.”
